Chillers and ice machines with "water as refrigerant".

Author(s) : PAUL J., JAHN E., LAUSEN D., et al.

Summary

The paper reports about results from the development of refrigeration systems such as chillers and icemakers using water as refrigerant. Based upon experience obtained with different systems over the last decade the concept of a multi-stage axial compressor design was chosen. A range of water vapour compressors is under final development and already in operation which yields capacities between 180 and 3.500 kW. Such compressors must be able to handle very high volumetric flows and high pressure ratios.
