BEARING IN MIND THE TECHNOLOGICAL CONTRIBUTIONS OF CFC'S, AN EXAMINATION OF RISKS IS THE ONLY WAY OF PREPARING A REPLY FOR AUTHORITIES, BUT ONE MUST AVOID EXCESSIVE SIMPLIFICATION. FOLLOWING A BRIEF RECOUNT ON THE CHARACTERISTICS OF CFC'S AND THE POSSIBILITIES THEY OFFER IN INDUSTRIAL SECTORS, THE AUTHOR POINTS OUT POSSIBLE LIMITS OF ACTION ON LIFE. THESE CONSIDERATIONS ENABLE ONE TO SHOW THAT IF THE CONTINUATION OF RESEARCH IS NECESSARY, ONE CAN CONCLUDE THAT AT THE PRESENT THE ANXIETIES DO NOT APPEAR TO BE REALLY JUSTIFIED.
