CO2-refrigeration systems and heat pumps with ejectors.
Number: 0939
Author(s) : SCHOENENBERGER J., BAERTSCH M.
Summary
In 2013, the first CO2 refrigeration system with ejectors was commissioned in a supermarket in Switzerland. Since then, CO2 refrigeration systems and heat pumps with ejectors have become increasingly important internationally. There are many ways to integrate ejectors into such systems. Some types of integration have become more established in practice than others. Basically, ejectors make it possible to convert previously unused potential (throttling losses) into pre-compression or pressure boosting, thereby increasing the overall efficiency of the system. However, the integration of ejectors into CO2 refrigeration systems or heat pumps is not enough. Experience shows that unused potential can only be converted into a relevant energetic advantage (benefit) if the systems are designed according to their application. Special focus is placed on the measurement, control and regulation technology of CO2 refrigeration systems or heat pumps with ejectors. Established integration options for ejectors are explained and their special features, particularly in terms of measurement, control, and regulation technology in connection with the ejectors, are discussed.
