The history of use of carbon dioxide in refrigeration is described; modern schemes of refrigerating plants using CO2 are considered. The advantages and limitations of carbon dioxide use in refrigeration plants are analyzed in detail; concrete examples of cascade refrigerating plants NH3/CO2, working at Russian enterprises are given.
