Summary
Many attempts have been made to save the power consumed by the main compressors of refrigeration plants. This paper deals with the adoption of a special technique based on the power regeneration by internal cycles to reduce the energy consumption. The innovation is related to the introduction of an energy recovery heat exchanger and a turbocharger into a conventional refrigeration plant. The application of this device allows a significant improvement of the efficiency and the cooling power. Both effects increase at the exercise and evaporating temperature decreasing. Angelantoni Cleantech has realized a test bench in which a 100 kW low temperature application has been experimented. The positive results obtained from the tests bring to a new kind of experimentation in which other range of temperatures and other applications will be tested. The future step concerns the phase of industrialization and production of turbocharger for different kind of applications and different range of working temperature.
