Summary

INCREASING COLD ROOM SPACE IS CONNECTED WITH PROBLEMS IN AIR CIRCULATION AND MAINTAINING A PROPER AND EVENLY DISTRIBUTED HUMIDITY LEVEL OF THE STORAGE AMBIANCE. AN EVEN AND STABILIZED TEMPERATURE LEVEL IS NECESSARY FOR KEEPING A HIGH QUALITY OF PRODUCTS STORED. LOWERING THE TEMPERATURE TO 243 K (-30 DEG C) EXTENDS THE STORAGE LIFE OF MOST GOODS. 60 X 36 X 7.5 METRES IS BELIEVED TO BE THE OPTIMUM SIZE OF COLD ROOMS. THIS SIZE PERMITS TO ACHIEVE UP TO 68% UTILIZATION RATE OF THE CHAMBER SPACE. FURTHER ADVANTAGES OF INCREASING THE CAPACITIES OF COLD ROOMS AND WHOLE COLD STORES, THE POSSIBILITIES OF THEIR TECHNICAL AND ECONOMICAL PERFECTIONING ARE NAMED.
