Summary

TECHNICAL PROCESSES OF THE CRYOPRESERVATION OF THE STEM CELLS OF THE PERIPHERAL BLOOD OF PATIENTS SUFFERING FROM CHRONIC MYELOID LEUKEMIA (COLLECTION, FREEZING, PRESERVATION, THAWING), SUCH AS THEY WERE DONE IN 45 PATIENTS. ALLOWING FOR THE OBSERVATION OF FIVE PATIENTS WHO COULD BENEFIT FROM AN AUTOGRAFT OF SUCH STEM CELLS, THE AUTHORS ESTIMATE THEY ARE CAPABLE TO RESTORE NORMAL HEMATOPOIESIS. HOWEVER, ONLY TWO PATIENTS COULD SURVIVE AND ARE LIVING, IN THE SECOND CHRONIC PHASE, 8 TO 10 MONTHS AFTER AUTOGRAFTING, HENCE THE INTEREST OF DEFINING A BETTER TREATMENT FOR PREPARING THIS OPERATION.
