Comfort-based design cold air distribution systems (abstract only).

Summary

Space cooling in commercial buildings represents the largest single category of electrical demand occuring during a utility's summer on-peak hours. Ice storage is one form of thermal energy storage (TES), or off-peak air conditioning, that allows most of buildings cooling energy requirements to be shifted to off-peak periods, thus reducing the need for a utility to increase generating capacity. Cold air distribution technology in commercial buildings has arisen because of the building space and cost savings that can be realized by combining it with thermal storage.
