Composition shifts of zeotropic hydrofluorocarbon refrigerants in service.

Summary

Two contributing mechanisms to the composition shifts observed when using zeotropic hydrofluorocarbon refrigerants in refrigerating and air-conditioning applications have been investigated using both computer modelling and experimental techniques. The major distinguishing features of the model are the inclusion of refrigerant-lubricant interactions and the composition shifts associated with vapour-liquid volume fraction effects in zeotropic refrigerants. The paper describes the computer model and illustrates the behaviour of some hydrofluorocarbon refrigerants as a number of refrigeration system parameters are varied.
