Summary
The analysis of fluid flow heat transfer inside tubes has been carried out, for the cases when enhanced heat transfer effect was achieved with the use of twisted-tape inserts together with higher roughness of the tube inner wall or serrated twisted tape insert. The main interest was paid to an influence of presence of twisted-tape inserts and to one of the methods of inner surface extension (tube or tape insert) on heat transfer coefficients and the pressure drop during fluid flow. Experimental results of heat transfer coefficient and pressure drop for the discussed methods were given. Heat transfer augmentation methods used in heat exchangers for refrigeration and air-conditioning were especially taken into consideration. See also this Bulletin, reference 2007-2529.
