COMPRESSION/ABSORPTION SYSTEMS: SIMULATION OF TWO CYCLES FOR DIFFERENT APPLICATIONS.

Author(s) : AHLBY L., HODGETT D. L.

Summary

THE AUTHORS PRESENT THE ADVANTAGES OF A COMPRESSION/ABSORPTION HEAT PUMP CYCLE. TWO SIMULATION PROGRAMMES FOR 2 DIFFERENT CYCLES USING AMMONIA-WATER WERE DEVELOPED. THE FORMER (C1) INCLUDES AN ABSORBER AND DESORBER. THE LATTER (C2) INCLUDES 2 ABSORBERS. C1 PROVIDES HIGHER COP'S WHEN THE TEMPERATURE GRADIENT OF THE HEAT SINK AND THE HEAT SOURCE ARE WIDE. WHEN THE TEMPERATURE GRADIENT OF THE HEAT SINK HAS TO BE REDUCED, C2 HAS A BETTER PERFORMANCE. WHEN COMPARED TO A COMPRESSION HEAT PUMP CYCLE, THE COMPRESSION/ABSORPTION CYCLE GIVES SLIGHTLY HIGHER COP'S AND CONSIDERABLY REDUCES THE COMPRESSOR SIZE.
