Summary

A simulation model is proposed for analyzing refrigerant properties in suction, compression and discharge processes in rotary compressors, and compressor performance is analyzed using the calculations and the experiments in the paper. Heat transfer coefficients between the cylinder and refrigerant both in two-phase suction and superheated gas refrigerants were evaluated by calculations performed under experimental condition. The linear relationship of discharge and cylinder temperatures to compressor frequency and suction quality was clarified by the experimental results. Mechanisms of the compressor performance were also analyzed by the refrigerant properties in the compression mechanism.
