Summary

This paper aims at optimizing the performance of the Claude cycle for the liquefaction of nitrogen, oxygen and air. The optimization of the cycle requires investigating the cycle performance for several operating parameters, namely: temperature at the entrance of the expander, expander flow rate ratio and pressure at the exit of the compressor. Therefore a computer program, using the nomenclature listed in the appendix, has been developed in C language and the results of the cycle performance for the liquefaction of nitrogen, oxygen and air are compared, to obtain optimum performance of the Claude cycle.
