Summary
Ammonia absorption cycle using an evacuated tube solar collector as the heat source was theoretically investigated. The cycle performance was studied using MATLAB computer software. Optimum generator temperatures which optimize the coefficient of performance at each evaporator, condenser and absorber temperatures were investigated. Evacuated-tube solar collector was found to be suitable to provide the required heat at the proper temperature of the cycle. The obtained results showed a good agreement with those in literature. Evacuated tube solar collectorshowed a good potential in refrigeration system applications. But it was found that evacuated tube solar collector did not reach the optimum generatortemperature under the high condenser and absorber temperatures.
