Summary

THE ENERGY CONSUMED IN FRANCE FOR DRYING OR CONCENTRATING PRODUCTS EXCEEDS 6 M TEO. THANKS TO REFRIGERATION (HEAT PUMPS) AND CONNEX VAPOUR COMPRESSION TECHNIQUES, LATENT HEAT CAN BE RECOVERED AND REINTRODUCED INTO THE PROCESS. FOR THE DRYING OF SOLIDS (WOOD, LEATHER, CEREALS, PLASTER..) IT IS SHOWN THAT THE HEAT PUMP SHOULD OPERATE AT THE HIGHEST POSSIBLE TEMPERATURE TOLERATED BY THE PRODUCT (EXAMPLE OF A PLASTER DRIER SAVING 40% OF PRIMARY ENERGY WITH TWO-YEAR RETURN TIME OF OVERINVESTMENT. FOR LIQUIDS, CONSUMPTION BY TON OF EVAPORATED WATER IS TEN TIMES LOWER THAN IN THE CASE OF SOLIDS.
