THE AUTHOR SUMMARISES THE ADVANTAGE OF THE CA STORAGE OF FRUIT AND STUDIES ROOM BUILDING: SELECTION AND USE OF THE INSULANT, ACHIEVEMENT AND CONTROL OF AIRTIGHTNESS. COOLING AND SETTING UP OF NATURAL OR ARTIFICIAL ATMOSPHERES ARE THEN DISCUSSED. TECHNIQUES FOR STABILISING ATMOSPHERES ARE DETAILED: VENTILATION, CO2 FIXATION BY SCRUBBERS OR ADSORBERS, MEMBRANE EXCHANGERS-DIFFUSERS (MARCELLIN SYSTEM). THE USE OF PLASTIC COVERS SUITABLY PERMEABLE TO RESPIRATION GASES IN ORDINARY COLD ROOMS (CONTROLLED ATMOSPHERE IN BAGS) IS DESCRIBED AND THE NEW TRENDS ARE ENVISAGED: EXTENSION TO OTHER PLANT PRODUCTS, THERMAL AND GAS PRETREATMENTS, CHANGE IN TEMPERATURE AND ATMOSPHERE DURING STORAGE, SEARCH FOR OTHER TREATMENT PROCESSES (HYPOBARIC ATMOSPHERE, HIGH RELATIVE HUMIDITIES).
