Converting existing R12 systems to R134a.
[In German. / En allemand.]
Author(s) : CARPENTER N. E.
Type of article: Article
Summary
The author describes efforts to solve the difficulties arising from the switch to R134a, including those involving the lubricant and system modification. A new lubricant was developed to eliminate the disadvantage of R134a's very low solubility with mineral oil. Other research is concentrated in three areas: system chemistry, lubricant transport, and system performance after conversion. The author describes a provisional conversion procedure.
