Summary
Following the rapid development of information technologies such as big data, artificial intelligence, cloud computing and the Metaverse, data volumes and computing power have become the primary aspects of competitiveness in the era of the digital economy. As a core infrastructure supporting data storage and computing power, data centres have undergone rapid growth. They have played a crucial role in supporting the economies of various countries and are becoming a key driving force of stable economic growth.
This rise in the use of data centres means that their energy consumption and carbon emissions are also growing rapidly, which has attracted attention from researchers. As an important auxiliary facility that can ensure the safe and reliable operation of a data centre, the cooling system has the highest consumption of the auxiliary systems, and therefore represents an important avenue for energy conservation and emission reduction.
This technical brief introduces the operation principle and components of data centre cooling technology and discusses the latest status and development trends of the main technologies and applications for the heat capture, heat transfer and heat release stages, thereby providing a reference for energy conservation and emission reductions in data centre cooling systems.
