Type of article: Article
Summary
THE ARTICLE REFERS TO COOLING TOWER SYSTEMS AND HIGHLIGHTS THE PARTICULAR DANGERS POSED BY VARIOUS WATER POLLUTANTS. DIFFERENT WATER SOURCES ARE DESCRIBED RELATIVE TO THEIR USUAL CONSTITUENTS. EMPHASIS IS PLACED ON GOOD ANALYSIS, PARTICULARLY WHERE SEASONAL VARIATIONS APPLY. A VERY COMPLEX EXAMPLE OF THE USE OF ANALYSIS IS SHOWN IN DETAIL TO DETERMINE THE RATE OF MAKE-UP TO RECIRCULATION WATER AND THE NEED FOR TREATMENT. TWO WATER SOURCES ARE TAKEN IN COMBINATION. D.W.H.
