Correlation of R290 + ethanol using cubic equation of state with some mixing rules.

Summary

Bubble point pressure for propane (R290) + ethanol were correlated with cubic equation of state, Peng-Robinson (PR) equation, at the temperature (293.15-313.15) K. Some mixing rules, conventional, Adachi-Sugie (AS) and Wong-Sandler (WS) types, were employed for PR equation. The excess Gibbs free energy by mixing at infinite pressure, GE, is necessary for the WS mixing rule. In this study, non-random two liquid (NRTL) model was employed as the Gibbs free energy. Only the WS model provided a good reproducibility for the experimental data. The model was applied not only for R290 + ethanol but also dimethyl ether (RE170) + ethanol and trans-1,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene (R1234ze(E)) + ethanol.
