Helmholtz-type equations of state for binary and/or ternary hydrocarbon mixtures of propane, n-butane and isobutane.

Author(s) : MIYAMOTO H., WATANABE K.

Summary

The authors aimed to develop highly accurate thermodynamic property models for binary and ternary hydrocarbon mixtures containing propane, n-butane, and isobutane. In the present modelling, they adopted the reliable equations of state explicit in Helmholtz free energy for these three hydrocarbons. The excess term regarding the contribution by mixing was optimized for each binary mixture based on the available experimental thermodynamic property data. A generalized correction for three binary mixtures besides the ideal mixing consists of only 4 terms in its functional form. The authors finally concluded that they had successfully developed reliable thermodynamic property models for the aforementioned promising hydrocarbon mixtures.
