Coupled ammonia-salt metal hydride system for heat and cold management in buildings.

Author(s) : WILLERS E., GROLL M.

Summary

Thermally driven solid sorption devices can contribute to the rational use of energy and to an environmentally clean heating/cooling technology. Recently discussed coupled systems have a high flexibility concerning operating temperature ranges and load behaviour and they allow high COP. In the study, the combination of a multi ammonia-salt topping cycle with a multi-hydride bottoming cycle is investigated. The ammonia-salt device provides simultaneously useful cold, heat and driving heat for the multi-hydride device, which provides useful heat and cold.
