Summary
The "Shuttle Fret", a new Eurotunnel system for truck crossing of the English Channel, is described. The freight cars are equipped with 4 plugs for the functioning of the refrigerating units. There will be up to three departures per hour in each direction, a crossing time of 35 min from one terminal to the other, a total transit duration of 80 min from one highway to the other, or a total time savings of at least 1 hour and 40 minutes. Custom controls will take place at departure. The shuttle will be able to accomodate up to 28 trucks. They will have access to various services at the terminals and "truckstops". J.L.
