Author(s) : NARAYANKHEDKAR K. G.

Summary

The gas manufacturing industry started in India in early 30s due to introduction of various processes of welding and its technology. During 1990s several air separation plants of large size were set up in various parts of India. National Committee on Science and Technology (NCST) presented a detailed report on existing status of cryogenics industries and its future prospects in India. Indian Cryogenic Council was founded in 1975 with an objective of promoting research and development as well as collaboration with industries by bringing them on a single platform by organizing National and International Conferences. This paper presents the current status of cryogenics in India with reference to gas industry, research and development, and major projects being pursued in cryogenics.
