THE CENTRAL TISSUE BANK IN BERLIN COORDINATES THE TISSUE BANKING IN GDR AND IS THE CENTRE FOR HOSPITALIZATION AND CONSULTATION IN THE FIELD OF TISSUE TRANSPLANTATION. THE BANK ALSO PERFORMS CLINICAL RESEARCH ON THE PHYSICOCHEMICAL AND BIOLOGICAL PROPERTIES OF ALLO-AND XENO-GRAFTS, ON NEW METHODS OF PRESERVATION AND STERILISATION AND ON DEVELOPMENT OF NEW TISSUE TRANSPLANTS.
