Summary

A CRYOPRESERVATION PROCESS COMPRISES SUCCESSIVE STEPS, FOR WHICH PRECISE CONDITIONS HAVE TO BE DEFINED FOR EACH PLANT SPECIES. NEW TECHNIQUES ARE TESTED (ENCAPSULATION/DEHYDRATION, VITRIFICATION, USE OF DOMESTIC FREEZER), WHICH AIM AT SIMPLIFYING THE STANDARD PROCESSES. RESISTANCE TO FREEZING IN LIQUID NITROGENHAS BEEN OBTAINED FOR MORE THAN 70 DIFFERENT PLANT SPECIES. HOWEVER, THE ROUTINE USE OF CRYOPRESERVATION STILL REMAINS EXCEPTIONAL.
