Cryopreservation of zona-free mouse embryos.

Summary

Two-cell zona-free mouse embryos were frozen to assess the effect of the zona pellucida during the cryopreservation process. They survived storage in liquid nitrogen, although the recovery rate was lower than that of zona-intact embryos. However, the viability of those zona-free embryos that survived the freezing-thawing process was similar to that of zona-intact ones when cultured in vitro up to the morula stage.
