CRYOSURGERY IN THE BENIGN PROSTATIC HYPERTROPHY AND CARCINOMA OF THE PROSTATE.

Author(s) : BARASOLO E., VENTURA M.

Summary

THE AUTHORS' EXPERIENCE LEADS THEM TO THE FOLLOWING CONSIDERATIONS: A) RESERVE CRYOTHERAPY TREATMENT FOR PATIENTS THAT CANNOT BE OPERATED OR TO THOSE WHO SUFFER FROM AN ADENOME OF SMALL DIMENSIONS AND REJECT ANY SURGICAL TREATMENT ; B) THE REPETITION OF THE TREATMENT DOES NOT PRODUCE BETTER RESULTS ; C) CRYOTHERAPY, IF WELL PERFORMED, DOES NOT CAUSE SERIOUS COMPLICATIONS ; AND D) THE RESULTS THAT CRYOTHERAPY IN THE CARCINOMA OF THE PROSTATE HAS GIVEN, ARE RATHER DISAPPOINTING (IN THIS FIELD HYPERTHERMIA TREATMENT WILL BE THE FUTURE ALTERNATIVE, EVEN IF THERE IS THE POSSIBILITY OF FISTULA RECTAL-BLADDER). THE ACQUIRED EXPERIENCE MAKES CRYOTHERAPYA SECOND-CHOICE TREATMENT.
