A NEW DUTCH STERN TRAWLER IS EQUIPPED WITH SEA WATER TANKS CHILLED TO 274 K (1 DEG C) AS A HOLDOVER SYSTEM TO FEED ITS FREEZING PLANT. PLATE FREEZERS USING R22 LIQUID CIRCULATION ARE INSTALLED TO FREEZE MACKEREL WHICH ARE OF AN AWKWARD SHAPE FOR THE BEST CONTACT. FOR RESEARCH IN INDIA A SHIP IS BEING EQUIPPED WITH TWO BLAST TUNNELS WHERE FISH CAN BE FROZEN INDIVIDUALLY OR IN TRAYS. D.W.H.
