Author(s) : SANDELEWSKI A.

Summary

An ice-on-coil storage system has recently been installed and commissioned for the new service center of a leading bank in Northern Italy. The paper outlines the reasons which led the client to select an ice-storage system, as well as the fundamental design concepts. The two modes of operation (daytime and nighttime) are examined in detail, and some information is given about the building management system and its operating software. Finally, a detailed report is given of the commissioning process and the numerous problems which were encountered and solved along the way. The paper is concluded with a summary of the experience gathered after the first season of operation, which should prove useful and beneficial to designers of future ice-storage systems.
