DETAILS ARE GIVEN OF THE PERFORMANCE OF RECENT HIGH EFFICIENCY HEAT EXCHANGERS WITH CONVEX LOUVRE FINS AND INNER GROOVED HEAT TRANSFER TUBES. A PRECISION HEAT EXCHANGER SIMULATOR HAS BEEN DEVELOPED AND IT CAN ALSO BE UTILISED FOR HEAT EXCHANGER DESIGN. THIS SIMULATOR CLARIFIES THE CHARACTERISTICS OF HEAT EXCHANGERS UNDER ACTUAL OPERATION IN HEAT PUMPS AND SHOWS THE INFLUENCE OF REFRIGERANT DISTRIBUTION, AIR FLOW, ETC.
