Summary

LOCALIZED HEAT INLEAKS IN CRYOGENIC ENCLOSURES CAN BE DETECTED BY THE THEY PRODUCE ON THE AMBIENT TEMPERATURE SURFACE OF THE VESSEL OUTER WALLS. INFRARED THERMOGRAPHY, A SIMPLE TECHNIQUE PERMITTING DETAILED THERMAL MAPPING OF SURFACES, HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY USED FOR LOCATING SUCH ON CRYOGENIC VESSELS AND TRANSFER LINES.
