DEVELOPMENT AND PERFORMANCE OF A DIRECTLY FIRED AND PERIODICALLY OPERATING ABSORPTION HEAT PUMP.

Summary

EXTENSIVE INVESTIGATIONS HAVE BEEN PERFORMED TO DETERMINE THE HEAT AND MASS TRANSFER RATES IN THE NECESSARY COMPONENTS FOR THE TERNARY MIXTURE METHANOL-WATER/LITHIUM BROMIDE. THE RESULTS OF THOSE PRELIMINARY EXPERIMENTS, ESPECIALLY THE ACHIEVED MEAN HEAT OUTPUT AND THE OVERALL HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENTS, PROVED THAT A TECHNICALLY SCALED UNIT CAN BE DESIGNED AND CONSTRUCTED WITH AN ACCEPTABLE OVERALL SIZE.
