Development in the fields of refrigeration in Denmark.
Forskning og udvikling på køleområdet i Denmark./ Development in the fields of refrigeration in Denmark.
Author(s) : CHRISTENSEN K.
Type of article: Article, Review, Case study
Summary
At Danish Technological R & D (Research & Development) within refrigeration covers above all 4 areas - namely, natural refrigerants, energy savings, process optimization and cost reductions on various refrigeration technological products. Many universities, institutes and companies deal with R & D in these areas, and jointly extremely good results have been obtained over the past 10 years. This article mainly takes its starting point in the R & D activities dealing with natural refrigerants and energy savings in refrigeration systems where Danish Technological Institute has played an important part. The article deals with work related to commercial refrigeration where hydrocarbons and CO2 are used as refrigerants, with industrial refrigeration with CO2, air and ice slurry, air conditioning with transcritical CO2 and water as refrigerant and with the potential of using sorption cooling for air conditioning. Finally, the article considers the application of an industrial heat pump with CO2.
