Summary

The authors developed a sound-sleep system by using air conditioning technology acting on the sympathetic nervous system. The system works by keeping the head cool and the feet warm. The temperature difference is 4 °C. The system is fully described. The system was shown to induce sleep within 6 minutes by comparison with 12 minutes under normal sleeping conditions. It also reduces sympathetic nervous activity by 5 to 18% compared with sleep under normal conditions.
