DEVELOPMENT OF ABSORPTION REFRIGERATION UNITS FOR COLD STORAGE OF AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS.

Author(s) : BORDE I., JELINEK M.

Type of article: Article, IJR article

Summary

INVESTIGATIONS WERE MADE INTO REFRIGERANT-ABSORBENT PAIRS OF HIGH CHEMICAL STABILITY FOR ABSORPTION UNITS POWERED BY LOW-GRADE HEAT SOURCES. THEY WERE CENTRED ON HALO-HYDROCARBON REFRIGERANTS AND ON NON-VOLATILE ABSORBENTS WITH FAVOURABLE TRANSPORT PROPERTIES (VISCOSITY, THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY, DIFFUSION, ETC). THE THERMODYNAMIC PROPERTIES OF THE PAIRS WERE MEASURED. PERFORMANCE WAS CALCULATED BY USING A SIMULATION PROGRAM. A NEW 53 KILOW PROTOTYPE WAS BUILT WITH AN EVAPORATOR TEMPERATURE OF 270 K (-3 DEG C). HOT WATER IS AT 368-371 K (95-98 DEG C) AND COOLING WATER AT 299 K (26 DEG C).
