Summary

This study is a development of adsorption heat pump (AHP) using a natural meso-porous material of Wakkanai siliceous shale (WSS) impregnated with chloride component. In this paper, the powder of WSS impregnated with lithium chloride was prepared as the adsorbent for AHP. To evaluate the theoretical water adsorption amount, the water adsorption isotherms were measured at the 30 °C and 80 °C for the adsorption and regeneration conditions. The theoretical adsorption amount was estimated as 0.37 g/g for the 20wt%LiCl-WSS. For the evaluation of cooling power, this adsorbent was filled in between the gaps of the fin tube of heat
exchanger. The COP was increased with increasing the adsorption time. The COP and SCP showed 0.44 and 0.433 kW/kg, respectively.
