Summary
As a low global warming potential (GWP) refrigerant, R1234ze was proved to be a good alternative for R134a replacement. In this paper, we present results for a new compressor developed for R1234ze as refrigerant in heat pump applications. The performance of the R1234ze compressor was tested, and compared with the R134a compressor under the same capacity. Another new low GWP refrigerant R515A was also evaluated and showed a very close performance as R1234ze and non-flammability. Also the performance of R515A was tested with the same R1234ze compressor to show the performance difference between these two refrigerants.
