Study of air distribution and temperature gradients in a refrigerated semi trailer.

Etude de la distribution de l'air et de la dispersion des températures dans une semi-remorque frigorifique.

Author(s) : BENNAHMIAS R., LABONNE G.

Summary

Two tests on a refrigerated semi trailer fitted (or not) with air ducts on the roof, and loaded with frozen foods, were carried out in a tunnel at 30 deg C. These tests have shown that the air temperature gradient in a vehicle can be halved when air is supplied by roof ducts. The running time of the refrigeration unit is also reduced. With an air duct and perforated floor rails, the warmest point of the load can be maintained below -20.1 deg C at a thermostat setting of -24 deg C.
