Summary

The paper describes the use of dimethylether as a refrigerant constituent in ammonia refrigeration plants. Investigation of the mixing behaviour of ammonia and dimethylether shows that the two constituents form an azeotropic mixture at an ammonia concentration of about 60% mass. This azeotrope has interesting physical properties, especially better oil solubility and lower terminal compression temperature. In various test rigs the stability of the mixture was demonstrated.
