COMPARISON OF THE TONNAGES OF FROZEN AND DEEP-FROZEN FOODS IN FRANCE (NATIONAL PRODUCTION, IMPORTS, EXPORTS) IN 1979, 1980 AND 1981, OF THOSE OF APPARENT HOME MARKET, INCREASING FROM 408,609 TO 519,332 T FOR DEEP-FROZEN FOOD AND FROM 253,203 TO 214,896 T FOR FROZEN FOODS ; CONSUMPTION PER CAPITA WAS 13.57 KG IN 1981. THE STUDY OF DISTRIBUTION CHANNELS TO HOUSEHOLDS AND INSTITUTIONS IN 1980 SHOWS SOME INCREASE IN SUPERMARKETS, A DECREASE IN THE ACTIVITY OF RETAIL STORES AND A STAGNANCY OF SPECIALISED TRADE. THE SECTORS WITH A MARKED NEGATIVE BALANCE OF FOREIGN TRADE ARE FROZEN AND DEEP-FROZEN OFFALS AND FROZEN RABBIT AND GAME. ON THE OTHER HAND, FRANCE EXPORTED A LARGE AMOUNT OF FROZEN POULTRY. SOME IMPROVEMENTS ARE POSSIBLE FOR FROZEN POTATO CHIPS, SOME VEGETABLES (EG SPINACH) OTHER THAN GREEN BEANS AND PEAS, STRAWBERRIES AND OTHER SOFT FRUIT. G.G.
