Summary

THE ABILITY OF CADAVER SKIN PIECES TAKEN UPON PREPARATION, EQUILIBRATION WITH A CRYOPROTECTIVE MEDIUM AND AFTER THAWING TO INCORPORATE A LABELED PRECURSOR OF DNA SYNTHESIS 3 H-TYMIDINE IN ORGAN CULTURES WAS STUDIED. EXPOSURE OF CADAVER SKIN PIECES TO A CRYOPROTECTIVE MEDIUM CONTAINING 15% PEO-400 FOR 3 HR APPEARED TO INHIBIT MARKEDLY THE INCORPORATION OF 3 H-TYMIDINE INTO PROCESSES OF EPIDERMOCYTE PROLIFERATION. USING 3 H-TYMIDINE LABELS IN CULTURES OF THAWED SKIN SAMPLES REVEALED PROLIFERATION OF BASAL EPIDERMOCYTES OF HAIRY FOLLICULI.
