Does contamination of "fresh" air intake cause some cases of building intolerance?
Author(s) : HANSON R. L., et al.
Type of article: Article
Summary
Reports the findings of a survey of 160 hospital employees. Finds that those employed in an area where the supply air was potentially contaminated with the exhaust air from other hospital areas had a higher prevalence of certain work-related symptoms than employees from other areas. Finds there was little difference between the two groups in overall heath. States these findings have implications for building intolerance, and larger studies are needed to investigate the role of ventilation system design, especially as it relates to the potential for contamination, in the cause of this syndrome.
