DYNAMIC SIMULATION OF DOMESTIC REFRIGERATORS WITH REFRIGERANTS R12 AND R134A.

Author(s) : VIDMAR V., GASPERSIC B.

Summary

THE ON/OFF MODE IS THE WAY OF CONTROL USUALLY APPLIED IN DOMESTIC REFRIGERATION EQUIPMENT. THESE OPERATIONS INTRODUCE CYCLING LOSSES, WHICH CAN HOWEVER BE DECREASED WITH OPTIMAL ON/OFF CYCLE LENGTH. THEREFORE, THE GOAL OF THE PRESENT WORK WAS TO DEVELOP A COMPUTER PROGRAM FOR SIMULATING THE START-UP AND SHUT DOWN TRANSIENT BEHAVIOUR OF HOUSEHOLD REFRIGERATORS AND FREEZERS. THE AUTHORS COMPARED RESULTS OF SIMULATIONS OF TWO DIFFERENT REFRIGERANTS (R12 AND R134A). HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENTS OF R134A WERE 30% HIGHER THAN THOSE OF R12, BUT THE COP WAS LOWER.
