Thermodynamic model R12 alternatives in domestic refrigerators-freezers: initial analysis.

Author(s) : BANSAL P. K., RICE C. K.

Summary

A simulation model, BICYCLE, has been developed to evaluate the mixtures of several pure refrigerants which have no effect on ozone, and to study their thermodynamic performance in vapour compression or single evaporator cycles, especially for household refrigerators. Characteristics and simulation that improve the model flexibility are examined. It uses subprograms of refrigerant properties based on Carnahan-Starling-DeSantis equation of state, and does not take transport properties into account. The model is used to illustrate the performance of some R12 substitutes, in a freezer or a refrigerator.
