Numerical simulation of refrigeration cycles with capillary tubes in on/off cycling mode.

Summary

A mathematical model is presented as a tool to describe the on/off cycling behaviour of a household refrigerator. The charge of the HC refrigerant isobutane is very low, only about one tenth of the amount of oil in the compressor. Therefore the sorption of refrigerant in the oil has to be taken into consideration. A submodel for the transient sorption in a hermetic compressor is developed and parameters are obtained experimentally. In simulation experiments the localisation of refrigerant in the machine is explained. It can be shown, that temperatures in the oilsump significantly influence the superheat area of the evaporator.
