Summary

This article shows experimental results from a model of a double-skin façade (DSF) developed in situ, on the ground floor of the Building Faculty in Brasov, part of Transylvania University from Brasov, on the south façade of the building. The measurements were performed during actual operating conditions. The experimental model consists of a so called ”box window” type double-skin façade, indoor air curtain, forced air circulation in summer and venetian blinds shading system, placed inside the cavity, in the median area. The model and adjacent experimental room are equipped with temperature thermocouples placed in relevant points for thermal behavior evaluation, air velocity sensors, thermo-hygrometers, CO2 sensors, portable pyrometer and portable light intensity meter. The main aim of the research was to observe and analyze the dynamic thermal behavior of the DSF during actual climatic conditions and how the system influences the adjacent room interior comfort during all four seasons.
