Type of article: Article
Summary
IN THE NAPHTHA-STEAM REFORMING PROCESS THE PURIFIED AMMONIA SYNTHESIS GAS CONSISTS OF HYDROGEN, NITROGEN, METHANE AND ARGON. TO CONTROL THE CONCENTRATION OF METHANE AND ARGON THEY ARE CONTINUOUSLY PURGED FORMING THE PURGE GAS. WHEN THE AMMONIA IS CONDENSED AND FLASHED, DISSOLVED METHANE, ARGON, NITROGEN AND HYDROGEN ARE RELEASED AND CONSTITUTE THE FLASH GAS. PURGE AND FLASH GAS RECOVERY CONSISTS OF OBTAINING THE COMPONENTS IN THEIR PURE FORM. WITH THIS RECOVERY, AMMONIA PLANT CAPACITY CAN BE INCREASED BY 5 TO 10% AND ARGON IS OBTAINED AS ADDITIONAL PRODUCT. THE POINTS TO BE CONSIDERED FOR ECONOMIC EVALUATION OF SUCH A RECOVERY PROCESS VIZ, WHETHER TO RECOVER ARGON OR NOT, SCHEME SELECTED FOR INTEGRATING THE RECOVERY UNIT WITH PARENT AMMONIA PLANT AND RECOVERY PROCESS SELECTED ARE DISCUSSED IN DETAIL IN THIS ARTICLE.
