Precooling is an important postharvest operation which removes the field heat of the cut flowers and enhances the vase life and flower quality. In the present investigation, it was found that the precooling of cut roses either by cold storage at 4 °C for 24 h or ice cold water spray over the cut stems and buds for 45 min gave maximum vase life and improved the flower quality.
