EFFECT OF THE GROUND COIL OF A GROUND-WATER HEAT PUMP ON ITS PERFORMANCES.

INFLUENCE DE LA CONFIGURATION DE L'ECHANGEUR ENTERRE D'UNE POMPE A CHALEUR SOL-EAU SUR SES PERFORMANCES.

Summary

THE PAPER PRESENTS PERFORMANCE DATA OF A GROUND COUPLED HEAT PUMP SYSTEM FOR TWO COMPLETE HEATING SEASONS. THE HEAT PUMP HAS A HEAT OUTPUT OF ABOUT 8 KILOWATT. UNDER THE OPERATING CONDITIONS WITH SOURCE TEMPERATURES OF ABOUT 268 AND 313 K (-5 AND 40 DEG C), IT APPEARS FREEZING OF MOISTURE IN THE SOIL. WITH AN EFFECTIVE TEMPERATURE LIFT OF 45 K, AN ALMOST CONSTANT COP AVERAGING ABOUT 2.3 WAS OBTAINED. BUT, WHEN THE HEAT PUMP STOPPED, THE RECOVERY OF THE SOIL TO NORMAL TEMPERATURES CAN BE EASILY ACHIEVED. THE HEAT EXTRACTION RATE PER UNIT LENGTH OF PIPE DEPENDS ON THE GROUND COIL CONFIGURATION. ITS VALUE IS IN THE RANGE 20 TO 30 WATT/M. CLOSELY SPACED PIPES HAVE A TENDENCY TO REDUCE THE HEAT EXTRACTION RATE AND THE EARTH COIL LENGTH TOO.
